Deep Neck Lift
Tunbridge Wells, Kent, London
The neck is one of the first places we tend to exhibit ageing, from neck banding to sagging skin. Neck rejuvenation procedures help restore the neck to a firmer, smoother, more youthful contour, refreshing the overall appearance of the face.
Marc Pacifico is a leading consultant plastic surgeon specialising in aesthetic surgery of the face and neck. He performs neck rejuvenation procedures at his private practice in Tunbridge Wells. He is one of the few plastic surgeons in the UK offering deep plane facial rejuvenation techniques, including deep neck lifts.
What Is a Deep Neck Lift?
A deep neck lift is an aesthetic surgical procedure designed to improve the neck contour by addressing loose skin, excess fat, and sagging muscle and gland tissue. This neck tightening procedure differs from a standard neck lift in that it accesses and manipulates the deeper structures of the neck for a more comprehensive and enduring result.
Deep neck lifting is relatively rare in the UK. As a leading consultant plastic surgeon, speaker, and revision specialist, Mr Pacifico possesses unique qualifications that allow him to offer patients his expertise in advanced surgical techniques, enhanced recovery, and natural-looking outcomes.
“I find it incredibly rewarding to perform a wide range of facelift techniques – each bespoke for the right person. Whether it is a local anaesthetic facelift (or wide awake facelift) performed at Purity Bridge, or a more intensive deep plane face and neck lift, combined with an eyelid lift and brow lift, the key is to obtain a result that looks fresh, bright and, most importantly, natural. My facelift patients come from far and wide – from London and surrounding areas, the SouthEast of England, other parts of the UK and even from abroad.”

Before and After
Photo Gallery: Facelift & Neck LiftWhat Are the Benefits of a Deep Neck Lift?
A deep neck lift targets age-related neck changes, providing benefits that include:
- A sculpted jawline
- A refined neck contour
- Elimination of neck bands
- Tighter skin, neck muscles, and underlying tissues
- A smoother, more youthful appearance
- Improved self-confidence
Am I a Candidate for a Deep Neck Lift?
If you are experiencing neck laxity, fullness or excess fat that obscures the contours of your neck, you may be a candidate for a deep neck lift. Post-weight loss patients with excess skin and uneven fat distribution are often candidates.
Good candidates for a personalised neck lift treatment tend to:
- Have neck sagging or excess chin fat
- Have neck banding
- Have a poorly defined jawline
- Have a double chin when looking down
- Be in good health
- Be non-smokers or willing to quit
- Have realistic expectations for results
Neck lifts are often combined with facelifts but can be performed on their own in specific circumstances, particularly in younger patients.
How Is a Deep Neck Lift Surgery Performed?
Deep neck lift surgery, when performed on its own, is a day case procedure typically performed under general anaesthesia. Mr Pacifico employs various techniques, tailoring his approach to each patient’s unique needs and desires. If it is combined with a facelift, then there is usually an overnight hospital stay arranged.
Your Consultation
During your consultation, you and Mr Pacifico will work to identify your aesthetic goals and concerns. Together, you will discuss what procedures will best suit your needs, and he will draw up a surgical plan and provide you with information about how to prepare for surgery.
The Procedure
No two surgeries are the same. Your deep neck lift procedure may include the following:
- A submental incision (a scar under the chin)
- An incision behind the ears (if there is skin excess)
- Reduction of submandibular glands
- Removal of excess skin
- Repositioning and/or reduction of the deep muscles (digastric muscles)
- Platysmaplasty (tightening of the sagging neck muscle that produces neck bands)
- Fat reduction
Possible neck reshaping techniques used may include:
- Cervicoplasty: Involves removal of excess skin and fat
- Platysmaplasty: In which the platysma muscle is repositioned and tightened to reduce neck banding and sagging
- Liposuction: Can be used to target excess fat pockets under the chin, often referred to as a double chin
- Direct fat excision: To remove excess fat under direct vision
What Is Deep Neck Lift Recovery Like?
During your recovery, you will need to get plenty of rest, keep your neck elevated, and limit moving your neck.
Many neck lift patients can return to work after one to two weeks. However, if the deep neck lift is combined with a facelift, it is normally recommended that 3-4 weeks are needed before social engagements. Mr Pacifico will inform you when you are cleared to return to your daily routine and resume your usual exercise routine.
What Results Can I Expect From a Deep Neck Lift?
Deep neck lift results will be initially obscured by swelling and bruising that will require time to resolve. As you heal, you will notice continued improvements in your neck and jawline. The final result can be assessed a year after the procedure.
The smooth contours of a deep neck lift are generally long-lasting. Although a deep neck lift won’t prevent further ageing, patients tend to look more youthful than if they never had surgery. To preserve your results, it is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle and use diligent sun protection.
How Much Is a Deep Neck Lift?
The cost of neck lift surgery varies depending on the technique used, combination procedures, anaesthesia fees, facility fees, and more.
More experienced facial plastic surgeons command higher prices for several reasons: they consistently provide better results, offer a more luxurious experience, and offer a significantly reduced risk of unfavourable surgical outcomes.
At your consultation with Mr Pacifico, he will provide you with an accurate cost estimate for your custom deep neck lift.
