BAAPS, based at the Royal College of Surgeons, was established for the advancement of safety and education in aesthetic plastic surgery. BAPRAS – The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons

BAPRAS, the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, is the voice of plastic surgery in the UK. It aims to increase the understanding of the professional specialty and scope of plastic surgery, promoting innovation in teaching, learning and research. Founded in 1946 (originally as the British Association of Plastic Surgeons), today BAPRAS has over 800 members and is the professional representative body for reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeons providing services to patients on the NHS and privately in the UK. Mr Pacifico is a full member of BAPRAS.

ISAPS – International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

ISAPS members are qualified and nationally certified plastic surgeons in 91 countries. Founded 40 years ago at the United Nations in New York, the ISAPS mission is to continuously educate its member surgeons in the latest procedures, to disseminate accurate and current information to the public and the media, and to promote safe surgery. Mr Pacifico is a full member of ISAPS and attends their international meetings.

RCS(Eng) – The Royal College of Surgeons of England

The Royal College of Surgeons is a registered charity that is committed to enabling surgeons to achieve and maintain the highest standards of surgical practice and patient care. The College supervises surgical training, provides educational workshops, sets exams, promotes surgical research and acts as an advisory body to the Department of Health, amongst other roles. Mr Pacifico is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.

GMC – The General Medical Council

The GMC registers doctors to practise medicine in the UK. Their purpose is to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine. They accomplish that by controlling entry to the medical register and setting the standards for medical schools and postgraduate education and training. They also determine the principles and values that underpin good medical practice and take firm but fair action where those standards have not been met. They have strong and effective legal powers designed to maintain the standards the public have a right to expect of doctors. They exist to protect patients.

The GMC Specialist Register is a register of doctors who are eligible to work as substantive, fixed term or honorary consultants in the health service in the UK. Doctors need to apply for entry onto the Specialist Register and meet the criteria set down in legislation. They will have completed a period of formal specialist training in the UK certified by the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB). Mr Pacifico is on the GMC specialist register for Plastic Surgery.
