Marc Pacifico at a speaking engagement

Mr Pacifico has been extensively involved in the latest scientific developments in plastic surgery throughout his training period and continues to be at these frontiers. He is passionate about research and his inquisitive mind is forever analysing the challenges he faces as a plastic surgeon, trying to solve the problems encountered.

During Mr Pacifico’s undergraduate medical training he undertook a further year of study to focus on a science degree (a Bachelor in Science (BSc)) in physiology. In this year his research focused on the reactions of blood vessels to variations in temperature, particularly the cold. Blood vessel behaviour and response is fundamental to all areas of plastic surgery. Mr Pacifico was awarded a first class honours degree for the outstanding calibre of his work.

Later during his specialist plastic surgery training Mr Pacifico spent two years researching ways to improve outcomes in melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer. To support his research he was awarded a prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellowship scholarship in 2003. After completion of his work on melanoma, Mr Pacifico was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine (MD) by the University of London.

Mr Pacifico has published extensively in the plastic surgery medical literature, as well as presented at national and international plastic surgery meetings. Below are a list of Mr Pacifico’s scientific publications and presentations.
